Using a historical rate correctly requires more than finding one number. Retain the pair direction, requested date, actual provider date, source, calculation method and original business record together.
Why requested and provider dates can differ
On weekends, holidays or days without a new publication, a service may return the latest valid working-day observation. The page should display the actual provider date so that a fallback value is not mistaken for a newly published same-day rate.
Which date should accounting use?
Transaction date, invoice date, posting date and month-end rate can serve different purposes. The correct accounting treatment depends on applicable standards, tax rules and professional advice; CurrencyFlow supplies reference data and documentation tools only.
Keeping an auditable record
Retain the original amount, source currency, target currency, rate, actual data date, source URL, calculation and original receipt. CSV export can support larger reconciliations.
