A cross-border payment should confirm recipient details, pair direction, provider rate, every fee, expected received amount, processing time and refund rules. A reference rate supports an estimate but cannot replace the final confirmation screen.
Confirm the currency direction first
The invoice currency, funding-account currency and recipient-account currency can differ. Identify who performs the conversion before comparing the cost of conversion by the sending bank, platform, intermediary or receiving bank.
Where fees can appear
In addition to a visible service fee, the payment may include a rate spread, intermediary charge, recipient-bank fee, priority fee or refund cost. Evaluate the final received amount rather than the nominal fee alone.
Keep payment evidence
Retain the invoice, recipient details, provider confirmation, applied rate, fee breakdown, payment time, arrival time and transaction identifier for later reconciliation and correction.
